Lily Bloom

A blooming lily is a spectacular thing to behold. Delicate and yet strong in form, such a beguiling character.

This painting is part of a series of small works Where I challenged myself to work small. Working small is not easier than large as there is less room for margin of error. I like to put limitations on my work as conversely it allows me to push the boundaries better. It's Like having a resistance band to train with. In this case, the size could have dictated the brush size, but I used mostly large brushes, pushing against a rule. I also limited my palette to help me push my mixing ability.
